Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Carvist?

A carvist is who and what I am.  I’m a combination of a carpenter, a wood carver,  and an artist.  I combine my years of experience in all these categories to create things that are unique to my clients needs that can’t be duplicated by anyone else.  Your experience while working with me will be unique and unlike any other.  I strive to ensure you are involved in every part of the process as I possibly can without you ever needing to step foot into my wood shop.  You will feel so involved you may even experience an imaginary splinter!  I work with my clients in all aspects of their job, from helping build the layout to picture updates as I create and complete your custom piece making your experience truly 1 of 1!

How much is a Sign or charcuterie tray?

The cost of a sign varies based on several factors, such as:
How big?
How much wood will it take to make?
How much detail?
Do you need help designing it?
How long will it take?
What type of wood/s?
What kind of finish?

The Pricing page includes prices gathered from my previous pieces to give you a rough estimate. Based off the questions above your piece can be more or less.

How long will it take to get it?

Typically it takes 2 to 3 weeks sometimes less.

If you don’t have 2 weeks to wait, please message me anyway, let’s discuss what it is you want, if I can squeeze it into my schedule so you have that perfect gift I will.

During the months leading to Christmas time I get more orders, and it is safe to say by Halloween I am completely booked up for Christmas gifts.

What types of wood do you have?

Select pine (furniture grade)
Poplar
Cherry
Black walnut
Oak
Maple
And my personal favorite, Red Cedar

Looking for something more exotic that doesn’t grow locally like zebra wood? Let me know I will try and find it with my supplier and get you a market price.

Where do you get your lumber?

I purchase all of my lumber by personally hand picking it at a local family owned and operated sawmill/lumber yard right here in North Carolina. By hand picking I assure that I get the most beautiful grain patterns I can find.

When you buy a sign or a tray you are buying a meticulously crafted product, I take pride in my work; I’m passionate about what I do, and your finished product will reflect that. Your purchase will last for years to come and is sure to be a conversation piece at any and every event.
